Caleb grew up on a small agrarian colony whose population believed in a simpler life. His parents ran a local general store. It was clear early on that Caleb had no interest in continuing on in the family business, burying himself in the one modern luxury the family had, a computer. They believed that by showing their children how corrupt the rest of the galaxy was they would be satisfied with their lot. Despite a voracious appetite for knowledge, Caleb was an indifferent student except in history class. He didn't talk to classmates and when he did it was in a language he would make up. Since the children on the colony didn't have translator technology they could not understand him. When he was seventeen and without direction, he was sent to Earth to live with and uncle. It was hoped that Caleb would thrive on Earth where there were different opportunities. Nothing seemed to stimulate him. He moved from job to job until for several years until he decided to join Starfleet.
 
Caleb did not attend the Academy coming up instead through the enlisted ranks. He took advanced courses in intelligence gathering during his training at Ft. Gordon near Augusta, Georgia. His later career then took him to Officer Candidate school near Kiev.
 
Caleb began his career as an intelligence analyst at Starfleet Headquarters, just another nameless face in a massive department. He was charged with gathering the data from various field operatives and intelligence assets. He rose quickly through the lower enlisted ranks but was never submitted to be an NCO as his superiors did not believe he had the leadership skills necessary. One day his section chief was having difficulty with a code and found Caleb to be a willing tool to solve its mysteries. Caleb was appointed to the encryption division trying to break enemy codes and come up with codes the enemy could not break. Again he was in a dead end position until he heard of an opportunity to go on a field mission that needed a linguistic specialist. The train up to this mission was the most challenging situation that Caleb had ever gone through. The mission to infiltrate the Orion syndicate was a partial success but left him wounded when their undercover roles were compromised. His section chief saw that Caleb had experience in all fields of intelligence and was suggested for officer training.
 
Caleb has opened up a bit since his early days. He is still a very private individual. Those who have a conversation with Caleb do not realize they are being probed for information. He will often steer conversations about himself back to the person whom he is talking to. He has a tendency to pretend to look down when talking to someone and occasionally will stutter.

During transport, Jake was almost lost due to excessive interference from the temporal wake. Because of his exposure, it appeared that his body had been slightly rejuvenated and that an old injury he had sustained during an away mission as a child had mysteriously healed itself. When no other adverse side effects were observed, he returned to duty and the mysterious vessel was lost to Starfleet, along with its secrets.		The now Lieutenant JG Warrington was assigned to lead the away team to investigate. When they arrived on the vessel, they found it to be abandoned, but with an oddly Starfleet signature. Before they could find out any more, the vessel began to get dragged into the anomaly. The Wellington was required to perform an emergency beam-out or risk getting pulled in as well.
